Perfect example, initial IJN/USN/RU destroyer lines fulfill all "archetypes" of destroyers viable in this game - torpedoboat, cap contester and long range jackass. WoWs in terms of game mechanics is shallow as a puddle, any new ship after initial duo/trio is going to be either questionable or will outright powercreep older ships. You can stack up at least 5m free xp if you would use them regularly and buy any ship line day one after you played all the games you need to play to use all of those.
